sidewalk repair in the stone mountain cidImprovements were recently undertaken to ease winter driving concerns and boost pedestrian access in the Stone Mountain CID. Crews reduced existing tree cover along a segment of Mountain Industrial Boulevard where shading often leads to dangerous road conditions during the coldest months.

CID President Emory Morsberger said the cutting was necessary to ensure that adequate sunlight reaches the road’s surface to melt snow or ice that accumulates on a curve.

“When ice forms on that segment of road, the dense stand of trees prevents the ice from melting,” Morsberger said. “The rest of Mountain Industrial Boulevard would be warmed enough to return to normal, but that one stretch would remain a concern. We are taking steps to make this part of the commute much safer.”
