Road Improvements and Landscaping in the CID

Your commute along Tuckerstone Parkway is about to get a lot safer and easier on your auto. Two weeks ago, construction has begun on that roadway to repair decades of deterioration from heavy tractor trailer and MARTA traffic.

SMCID Consulting Engineer Larry Kaiser reports that about 200 feet of roadway along one lane has been replaced with stronger sub-surface material and new paving. Curbs and gutters have also been replaced. This will especially make a difference for MARTA riders who wait at the Tuckerstone Parkway stop.

Pictured above you can see similar construction happening at the intersection of Tuckerstone and North Royal. All sides of the intersection are also being restructured including road repair and the rebuilding of curbs and gutters. If the weather cooperates, this project will be completed before the July 4th holiday.
